TYPES OF CONDENSER

 according to the cooling media the condenser is of three type.

1. air cooled condenser 

2.water cooled condenser 

3.evaporator type condenser

Air Cooled Condenser

an air cooled condenser is one in which the removal of heat is done by air. It is used in domestic system like refrigerator, water cooler, deep freezer, split type air conditioners, etc

 with respect to the conversion two type:

1.natural Convection condenser

2.forced Convection condenser

Water Cooled Condenser

A water cooled condenser is 1 in which water is used as the condensing medium. they are always preferred where an adequate supply of clear inexpensive water and means of water disposal are available. these condenser are commonly used in commercial and industrial refrigerating unit. condensing temperature 4 degree Centigrade - 12 degree Centigrade above water temperature. quantity of water to be circulated 5 to 20 litre per minute per ton, velocity of water 120 to 175 metre per minute. there are 3 type of water cooled condensers:

 

1.Shell and Tube condenser  

2.Shell and Coil Type condenser 

3.Tube in tube condenser

Evaporative Type Condenser

It is named so because it makes use of the principal of evaporative cooling.  The water evaporates when it comes in contact with refrigerant flowing in the condensing coil. In this type of condenser,  both air and water are used as the cooling media. Water is sprayed over the condensing coil through which hot refrigerant vapour is flowing. A pump is utilized for this purpose. An  exhaust  fan is fitted at the top of the condenser and it sucks air from the side opening. Eliminator a provided in the condenser to prevent escaping for of water particles with air. The air carries away the heat taken from the refrigerant by the water vapours. A makeup water due to evaporation.

The induced draught fan is more desirable than forced draught one as it has the chance of re-circulating discharged hot air which is possible with the forced fan.
